Belinda has served as the pianist for the Classical Worship Service at Christ UMC since September 2007. On February 17, 2008, she officially joined CUMC as a member. Belinda holds a B.M. in Piano Performance from Southwestern University (Georgetown, TX); an M.M. in Piano Pedagogy from Texas Christian University; and an M.L.S. in Library & Information Services from the University of North Texas (Denton).
Belinda began her career in education in 1979, and since that time has been involved in teaching music - piano, organ, and music theory - to students of all ages. Upon the completion of her library science degree, she began service in that profession. In June of 1997 she was hired as the Head Librarian at the Preparatory Campus of Southwest Christian School where she continues to enjoy her work with young adults. Belinda has been involved in church music ministry for 18 years and is delighted to serve CUMC at this time. Belinda also maintains a small, but select, piano studio from her home in Southwest Fort Worth where she lives with her husband, Teddy Ashcraft, as of March 15, 2010, and their beloved Chihuahua, Domino.
There are many scriptures that are meaningful to Belinda. One of them is Psalm 46:10:
"Be still and know that I am GOD".
She uses that verse as an "oasis" in her busy workdays - reminding her of the need for quiet time in order to listen to GOD.
