Anita McNew
Director of Music

Anita McNew has been the Director of Music for Christ UMC since September 2005. During her service here she has directed the chancel choir, led praise and worship music, and organized a children's choir. She considers music to be a vital part of worship, a vehicle through which individuals can lift their hearts to the Lord.

Anita earned a BA in Psychology/Sociology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a MS in Psychology/Professional Counseling from Texas Wesleyan University.  She is licensed to practiced mental health counseling under supervision in the state of Texas.  She is also certified as a Vocal Music Director through the Sweet Adelines International Director Certification Program.

Anita served as Associate Minister of Music and Principle Soloist at Handley Meadowbrook Christian Church for 8 years.  Her musical experience includes more than 20 yrs of training and application - directing, private music instruction, vocal coaching, singing, and recording.

Anita’s favorite scripture is Roman 15:7:

“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” 
This teaches that only through acceptance can there ever truly be peace.
